SOCIAL ACTION / COMMUNITY CONCERN:
We are a church which aims to look beyond itself to the wider needs, not only of our own community and neighborhood, but further a field as well. We regularly support The HUGGARD CENTRE (CASH) who support the HOMELESS in Cardiff; we collect money and things needed by the collection for ROMANIA where a Cardiff based charity support and provide for workers with the elderly, children and prisoners in the poorer areas of Romania; TRAIDCRAFT is another way in which we reach beyond our own immediate area, our stall regularly stocks over 60 items of Fair Trade food, sweets and household items. We also have a couple of crafters who make and sell HANDMADE CARDS to support our various projects.
.
THE HISTORY OF THE CHURCH and on into the future:
Methodism became established in
Dinas Powys in 1875
In 1875 Rev James Carr estsblished a Methodist Bible Class in The Star Pub in Dinas Powys. James Carr was a retired Methodist Minister living in Cardiff and he is buried in St Andrews graveyard.
Later the Methodists acquired Kynance Cottage which became the first Methodist Church in the village. Later the present Church was added.
Methodism has maintained worship and witness through the years.
Many changes have taken place over the years including the arrival and departure of Wesley Court Centre.
We worship together on a Sunday and have provision for all ages. We have groups meeting throughout the week; Girls Brigade, Meet & Eat Soup Lunch, Wednesday Afternoon Fellowship, Women on Wednesday, Wesley Guild, Saturday Coffee Mornings as well as the Ecumenical Monthly Bible Study group
Our plans for the future
